Relay ?
A relay is an electrically operated switch used in electrical circuits to control high-power devices with a low-power signal. It consists of a coil and one or more sets of contacts that open or close when the coil is energized. Relays are commonly used for automation, protection, and control applications in electrical systems.
Types of Relays:
1. Electromechanical Relay (EMR) - Uses a physical moving part (contacts).
2. Solid-State Relay (SSR) - Uses electronic components (no moving parts).
3. Time-Delay Relay - Operates after a set delay.
4. Overload Relay - Protects motors from overcurrent.
5. Differential Relay - Used in power system protection.
Applications:
Motor control circuits
Protection systems in electrical panels
Automation and industrial control
Switching high-voltage circuits with low-voltage signals
